SaaS Development
Turn your business idea into a scalable software platform. From concept through to launch and beyond.
At its heart, SaaS development is about taking a business concept and making it into a web platform that customers will pay to subscribe to. I specialise in creating bespoke SaaS products in Laravel for UK founders and their companies. My work with you covers the whole journey from first principles of architecture and secure billing to the point of launch, ensuring you have a product for the market that is both scalable and yours in every sense.
What do you get with a SaaS build?
A SaaS build gives you a multi-tenant application ready for production. You will have an admin dashboard, the essential features your users are after, secure authentication and subscription billing, all underpinned by clean, documented code. With two decades in development, I take care of the decisions that are difficult to reverse down the line: how to keep tenants apart, manage the odd billing edge case or ensure the app does not slow as data accumulates. The result is a platform on firm ground, not one put together with shortcuts.
What does the MVP-first process look like?
My approach to an MVP is to avoid building everything in one go. I concentrate the initial release on the most compact version of the idea that can still generate revenue and be validated by actual users. This is more economical and puts you in front of the market faster. A run of eight to fourteen weeks usually breaks down into four stages:
Discovery: We will map out your core problem, the users and the business model to settle on a feature set.
Architecture: Before writing any code I plan the infrastructure, tenancy and data model to head off surprises.
Build: I put together working software in short, reviewable increments so you can see it coming together and make adjustments.
Launch: After testing in real conditions I deploy and hand over a stable system for your first customers.
How much does a SaaS platform cost?
These are the most demanding projects I undertake and as such they are at the Enterprise end of my packages, starting from £15,000. I prefer to give you a fixed, itemised quote after our discovery call rather than an open day rate, so there is no ambiguity on cost. For the details on what makes up that figure, my guide on how much it costs to build a SaaS MVP in the UK is worth a read.
Why build a SaaS product in Laravel?
I use Laravel because it is a mature PHP framework where you do not have to reinvent the wheel. Between Cashier for billing, background jobs and a wealth of vetted packages, you get what you need without fuss. It is easy to find staff for later on too, so you are not tied to one developer, and it has the security and defaults required when you are holding customer data.
Who is a SaaS build for?
Whether you are a founder with a new idea, an established firm looking to productise an in-house tool or one wanting to own your software instead of paying for an off-the-shelf solution, a custom build is the way to go. It provides the control of recurring billing and multiple accounts that a template cannot. And should you wish to maintain some momentum post-launch, I offer a support retainer to keep things running smoothly. Some of my portfolio is available for you to peruse.
How do we get started?
To start things off, let us have a brief, no-strings conversation about your goals and the users you are targeting. I will then come back to you with a timeline and a firm quote. Do get in touch via the contact page.
Frequently asked questions about :service
How much does SaaS development cost in the UK?
A focused MVP typically starts around £15,000, the level of my Enterprise package, and scales with scope from there. After a discovery call I give you a fixed, itemised quote, so you know the exact price before any work begins rather than being tied to open-ended day rates.
How long does it take to build a SaaS MVP?
Most MVPs I build launch within roughly eight to twelve weeks. The biggest variable is scope: a tight feature set focused on the core problem ships faster and validates your idea sooner. I agree a realistic timeline with you before any code is written.
What technology do you build SaaS products with?
Honestly, it's always built with the right tech for the job. But mainly Laravel, Livewire and Filament on the back end with Tailwind CSS on the front end, a proven, maintainable stack. It handles authentication, subscription billing, admin dashboards and integrations well, and you own all of the code and infrastructure outright.
Do I own the code and the platform?
Yes, completely. The code, the database and the hosting accounts are all yours. There is no lock-in to me or to any platform, so you are free to take the project elsewhere at any time.
Where are you based, and do you work remotely?
I work from Watford in Hertfordshire and take on SaaS clients right across the UK. For local businesses I am happy to meet in person; for everyone else the whole project, from discovery to launch, runs smoothly online.
