How Much Does a Website Cost in the UK? (2026 Price Guide)
A transparent 2026 guide to what a website really costs in the UK, from simple brochure sites to e-commerce and custom web apps, and the factors that push the price up or down.
Start with the kind of website your business needs
You will not find one fair price for a UK business website. The work involved in putting together a template-based brochure is not the same as building a bespoke marketing site or an application to handle bookings and sales. The only sensible way to compare is by looking at written scopes that cover design, support, content and functionality.
For those in London or Hertfordshire, a local developer can be of use for direct contact and context, but do not let location alone dictate quality or cost. Look at the person who will deliver the project and the process they propose.
My current website and application prices
These are PJE Designs starting prices, not UK market averages. Each project receives a fixed written proposal before work begins.
| Package | Starting price | Typical scope | Indicative delivery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | £3,500 | Up to 5 pages with editable text and images | 2–3 weeks |
| Business Website | £5,500 | Up to 10 pages, CMS and blog or news | 3–5 weeks |
| Growth | £8,500 | Up to 15 pages and one scoped shop, booking or member workflow | 4–8 weeks |
| Enterprise | £15,000 | A focused first release of a custom application | 8–12 weeks |
Timelines depend on scope, content readiness, access to required systems and timely feedback. A larger or more complex project may need phased delivery. See the full package inclusions.
What changes the cost?
Integrations, data migration and the demands of the design will all have an effect. Do not put two quotes side by side as if they are the same without defining your requirements first. A shop with product imports and payment testing is not the same as a calendar on a page, nor is a booking flow with staff controls.
Often the best place to begin is with the smallest useful release. Put in place the workflow that overcomes the biggest hurdle and then let real feedback tell you where to invest further. We can quote smaller tools and fixes on their own if they do not form part of a full package.
Budget for ownership after launch
Unless it is in your proposal, hosting, domain names, subscriptions and full copywriting are separate line items. Make sure you know who owns the account and what renewal will cost. Transactional sites will also incur fees from the payment provider.
Our Website Care plan is from £195 a month for two hours on a stable content site, for applications, support is from £500 for six hours. Compare allowances and support terms before deciding what you need.
Choose on fit and clarity
There is sense in a lower-cost option for a straightforward need, but bespoke development has its place when the function or design serves a clear business end. Press suppliers on how they price changes and what you have to provide. A good proposal should make the decision easy.
Tell me what your website needs to achieve and I will recommend an appropriate scope and budget.
